Acmw local workbench

Acmw — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what Acmw stores, what permissions it uses, and how you control the records you create while documenting disassembly and reassembly.

Effective: August 7, 2026 On-device by default No tracking

Acmw does not create an account and does not upload your project records to an Acmw server. Your text, photos, voice cues, hotspots, parts, and session history stay in the app’s local storage by default. Information leaves the app only when you explicitly use a system sharing or export destination.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to the Acmw iPhone app and its local handling of the information you choose to create or import. It does not govern the privacy practices of Apple, the iOS system, a photo-sharing destination, a cloud provider, or any other service you choose through the system share sheet. Those services have their own policies.

Records stored on your device

Acmw stores the following categories locally so it can provide its features:

Projects and steps

Names, categories, notes, summaries, step titles, details, direction notes, status, and timestamps.

Photos and hotspots

Object, step, supporting, and completion photos, thumbnails, image positions, labels, and hotspot types.

Parts

Part names, slots, expected and returned quantities, notes, and links to their source step or hotspot.

Voice cues

Optional mono M4A/AAC recordings attached to steps, limited to 30 seconds each.

Sessions and progress

Disassembly and reassembly session status, route position, completion checks, results, timing, and review notes.

Generated files

Temporary PDF exports and temporary media files used while saving or previewing a manual.

Why Acmw uses this information

  • To save, display, edit, search, filter, archive, restore, or delete your local project records.
  • To show the disassembly route in reverse for reassembly.
  • To connect photos, hotspots, parts, and voice cues to the correct project or step.
  • To calculate local progress, part-return checks, session history, and summaries from the records you created.
  • To build a PDF manual when you ask to preview or export one.
  • To remember lightweight app preferences such as appearance selection. Business records are not stored in UserDefaults.

You choose when media access is used

  • Camera: requested only after you choose to take a photo. The resulting image is processed and saved to the local project by default.
  • Microphone: requested only after you choose to record a voice cue. The recording is saved to the selected step on this device by default, and recording is limited to 30 seconds.
  • Existing photos: when you choose an image from the system photo picker, iOS provides Acmw with the item you select. Acmw does not request full photo-library access for this flow.
  • Permission refusal: refusing camera or microphone access does not block text notes, existing-photo selection where available, or the rest of the core workflow. You can review denied permissions in iOS Settings.

No account, server, or tracking profile

In the current version, Acmw does not operate an account system, social feed, community, advertising network, analytics service, or tracking SDK. It does not perform cross-app or cross-site tracking, does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, and does not request Local Network access.

Acmw does not sell your project records and does not share them with an Acmw server or an advertising partner. It also does not record audio in the background.

Local storage and protection

Structured project data is stored in the app’s local Core Data store. Photos, thumbnails, recordings, and related media are stored in the app’s Application Support directory. Acmw uses the iOS app sandbox and file protection for its media directory, but no method of storage can guarantee absolute security.

Acmw does not automatically upload or synchronize these files. Whether local app data is included in an Apple device backup depends on your device, Apple account, and backup settings. Review Apple’s settings and policies if backup behavior is important to you.

When you explicitly choose a destination

Acmw can pass a PDF file to the iOS system share sheet after you choose to share it. Acmw itself does not upload the PDF. If you choose Mail, Messages, Files, a cloud drive, or another destination, that destination may process or retain the file according to its own terms. You are responsible for checking the recipient and the information included before sharing.

You control your local data

  • You can remove individual photos, supporting images, and voice cues from their project or step.
  • You can archive a project and restore it later from the archive.
  • Projects in Recently Deleted can be restored for up to 30 days. After that period, Acmw permanently deletes the project and its associated local media, parts, hotspots, and sessions.
  • The Privacy & Data area provides a separate action to permanently delete all local project data and associated media after confirmation.
  • Temporary staging media older than 24 hours and cached PDF exports older than 24 hours may be cleaned up automatically.
  • Uninstalling Acmw normally removes its app sandbox. Device backups may contain prior copies according to your backup settings.

Acmw is not designed to collect children’s data

Acmw has no account system and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a server. If a child uses the app, a parent or guardian should supervise device use, media capture, and any later sharing of project records.

Keeping this policy current

We may update this Privacy Policy when Acmw’s features, storage behavior, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will show when the current version took effect. If a future version introduces a materially different data practice, the app should provide appropriate notice before that practice begins.
